Recognizing scams and phishing attempts

Updated over a week ago

Keeping your account safe means knowing how to spot scams and phishing attempts. Scammers may try to trick you into giving away your login details, Sweeps Cash, or RuneScape Gold.

Official Runestake communication

  • Runestake will only contact you through runestake.com or verified support emails.

  • We will never ask for your password or 2FA codes.

  • Always check that links begin with https://runestake.com before entering your details.

Common signs of a scam

  • Messages from unofficial Discord, email, or social accounts pretending to be Runestake staff

  • Promises of “free Sweeps Cash” or “exclusive bonuses” in exchange for your login info

  • Requests to trade or redeem outside of the official Marketplace

  • Misspelled URLs or slightly altered website names

How to protect yourself

  • Never share your password, email access, or 2FA codes.

  • Double-check URLs before logging in.

  • Ignore or report anyone asking for trades or offers outside Runestake.

  • Bookmark runestake.com and access the site only through official links.

If you suspect a phishing attempt

  • Do not click links or download files.

  • Take a screenshot of the message.

  • Report it to support immediately through live chat or at [email protected].
